Father’s Day Tie Banner June 17, 2012

I downloaded this FREE Father’s Day printable from Amanda’s Parties TO GO!  I loved the colors of this banner and I thought the ties were super cute.  My husband was surprised and loved it!  I also used the Mother’s Day printable by Amanda’s parties TO GO.  Check it out by clicking here.

Project Supplies

1.)  Download the free printable.  To download, you must “like” Amanda’s Parties to go on facebook and then from her facebook page, you can download the file.

2.)  White paper or cardstock.

3.)  Scissors.

4.)  Ribbon.

5.)  Hole Punch.

6.)  Double sided tape or tape runner.

Project Steps

1.)  Print banner

2.)  Cut it out.

3.)  If you print it on regular paper (as I did), tape the tie pieces to a 12 x 12 piece of cardstock.  I fit three ties on each piece of 12×12 cardstock.

4.)  Cut out the ties again with an outline of cardstock.

5.)  Use your hole punch to punch two holes in each tie.

6.)  Thread ribbon through the ties to create your banner.

Time:  45 minutes

Substitutions:  Since my printer doesn’t feed heavy paper, I had to print the banner on regular printer paper.  I wanted to banner to last a few years, so I opted to outline each tie with brown cardstock.  You could certainly print it on cardstock or glossy thick paper and skip the extra steps I took!

Some Bunny Loves You Card June 8, 2012

I pinned this idea a while back and decided to use if for Father’s Day this year.  We each stamped our finger prints on the card to create three bunnies.  This was a simple, fun, inexpensive, and thoughtful card to create.  I also love that this card is very versatile.  You could use it for Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, a birthday, really for any occasion.

Supplies:

1.)  Cardstock

2.)  Paper cutter or scissors

3.)  Markers

4.) White acrylic paint

5.)  Father’s Day Questionnaire – click here to see the questionnaire I replicated.

Project Steps:

1.  I folded a 8-1/2″ x 11″ piece of cardstock in half.

2.)  I cut the folded piece of cardstock in half.

3.)  I wrote out “Some bunny love me!” on the card, leaving room for the fingerprint art.

4.)  I typed up a Father’s Day Questionnaire and taped it inside the card.

5.)  I interviewed my four-year old about her dad and wrote in her answers.

6.)  I poured just a little bit of white acrylic paint into a paper bowl.

7.)  I stamped each girls thumb and index fingers to create the bunnies.

8.)  After the bunnies dried, I used markers to draw in the eyes, nose, and whiskers.  I also wrote our names underneath the bunny we each stamped.

9.)  I will let my daughter’s draw something on the back of the card and I’ll write a nice message inside.

Substitutions:  I didn’t print directly onto cardstock because my printer can’t handle it.  So, I opted to print on regular printer paper and then to make it more sturdy, I outlined it in an orange cardstock.

Decorate Daddy’s Favorite Snacks – Tie Printable June 6, 2012

When my husband comes home from work, he takes the girls down to play in the basement.  This gives me some time to unwind and get ready for dinner.  There is always a Costco size jar of snacks in the basement.  My daughter calls them Sophie/Daddy snacks.  Since we’re out of “Sophie/Daddy” snacks, we picked up a new jar at Costco the other day.  We’re saving them for Father’s Day and used this really cute printable to “wrap” the gift.

Father’s Day Photo Idea – We Love Daddy Feet June 2, 2012

I’ve been gathering ideas for Father’s Day from Pinterest.   I wrote “We love Daddy” on my kids’ feet and took a picture.  I think I’m going to print it in black and white and in color and see what I like better.  I’ll frame it and the girls will give it to daddy on Father’s Idea.

It was a huge task to get this picture taken.  The girls were very ticklish.  They would not sit still so I could write the note on their feet, thus the sloppy penmanship.  Second, it was a chore to get the girls to even sit next to each other, let alone with their toes pointed to the ceiling.  I will try again and see if I get a better shot, but this one will do if the second round is a fail.  I think I may do another one that says “We love papa” for their grandpa.
